30 Day Movie Challenge Day 8: Sidekick
"Wanna go fight some crime?"
For today's challenge, I wanted to draw one of the most memorable sidekicks in recent memory- Ellen Page as Boltie. In this universe, Rainn Wilson is apparently a giant for some reason. :P

30 Day Movie Challenge Day 7: Swapping Gender
So, for this task, the challenge was to take an iconic movie character and swap the gender. For some reason a female Travis Bickle leapt to mind. I styled her a little after Lisbeth, the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. It's a strange juxtaposition, but I think it works.

30 Day Movie Challenge Day 5: Fight Scene
For this challenge, I wanted to depict one of the greatest fight scenes of all time: the battle between the T-800 and the T-1000 from Terminator 2. Once again, I took a little artistic license, but hopefully I captured the spirit of this incredible battle!
Also, for you curious artist types, I'm also including a visual tutorial, showing my process for this image, sketch through completion. Please let me know if you find this helpful. Thanks!

30 Day Movie Challenge Day 2: Minimalist Movie Poster
For this challenge, I chose one of my favorite Martin Scorcese movies, Casino. I tried to find the perfect image to represent the film, combining gambling, violence, and a gritty 70's vibe.
30 Day Movie Challenge Day 1: Animated Movie
Let's start this 30 Day challenge off with a bang! For Day 1, I chose to depict one of my favorite Pixar movies, The Incredibles. I swear, this movie gets better and better every time I see it. (Yes, I am aware that Mr. Incredible wore a different outfit in this scene, but I wanted to draw his iconic red look). Hope you dig it! :)

The Body
"The train had knocked Ray Brower out of his Keds just like it had knocked the life out of his body. The kid wasn't sick. The kid wasn't sleeping. The kid was dead."- A tribute to Stand By Me

New work
The top picture came out of a random idea of a young girl contrasted against a dark sky. I pretty much just made it up as I went along. The bottom picture was done as part of an invitation to my brother's upcoming wedding. I'm very happy for him and his lovely bride to be! :D

Sprouts
I've been feeling really energized and creative lately, so even though I really should be fast asleep I drew some little characters I call "Sprouts". Hope you like em!

"You Wish" is a personal project I'm working on. I can't say too much about it at this point, but here's a sneak preview of some of the characters.

The Evolution of Nicolas Cage
"Not the bees!" With those three words, Nicolas Cage entered into infamy, and now he's an online sensation. I honestly think he's a great actor, but his choice of film roles is baffling, and he's one of the most unpredictable people in Hollywood. I only wish that Tim Burton Superman movie would have come out, since that would have been a hoot to draw. Lol, maybe some other time. I hope you enjoy my tribute to the great Nicolas Cage. Which are your favorite Cage roles/quotes? Let me know in the comments!

The Evolution of Tim Curry
If it's been a while since you thought about what a badass actor Tim Curry is, here is your reminder. I love this guy. He hasn't done that many movies recently- he's now doing a ton of television, theater and voice over work, but jeez, what a talent. His performance of Pennywise in It left me permanently afraid of clowns. (In case you were wondering, 1993 is actually an episode of Tales from the Crypt, where he played each member of a murderous family.) What's your favorite Tim Curry performance? Clue? Congo? The Wild Thornberrys?
Sketchy sketch
Here are some quick sketches I did this week. Drawn in pencil, with an underlay of tone in Photoshop.

The Evolution of Gary Oldman
When you think of amazing character actors, one leaps to the top of the pack: Gary Oldman. Incredibly versatile, he is utterly convincing in whatever role he plays. The late 80's/early 90's were an especially ripe period where he zig-zagged from playing Sid Vicious to Lee Harvey Oswald to Dracula to nearly stealing the show in his few minutes of screen time as a drug dealing pimp in True Romance. In the late 90's he was well known for his villainous roles, but in the 2000's, he endeared himself to a new generation of fans by playing both Sirius Black in the Harry Potter films, and Commissioner Gordon in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy. Only one question remains: why hasn't this man won an Oscar yet?
