My first thought, at the risk of exposing my geekiness, was a Dark Jedi Padawan, who has discovered the perfect crystal for his lightsaber, and knows he is going to go very far, very fast.
It's someone in a cosmic vaccum wearing a hockey mask and mentally preparing to eat a ball of radioactive limburger cheese.
Do it all the time...
it could be the grim reaper holding a lost soul
or it could be like a super villian trying to make a really big weapon or power but eventually fails
