Day 4- A dream I had. I seem to have dreams where I'm falling quite often, so I tried to depict that. Day 5 is "Something Green". I thought of a green boat. And who should be in said boat? Why, Raiders of the Lost Ark's own Toht of course!

In anticipation of the Dark Knight returning to theaters, here's a little tribute to just a few of the memorable looks of the Batman. There are so many versions I would have liked to tackle, like the Bruce Timm animated look, but there was only space for 5. Maybe in the future I will do an expanded evolution to draw more of Batman's famous movie looks.

30 Day Drawing Challenge 3 begins!

Hey guys! Welcome to the start of the Third 30 Day drawing challenge! Follow along as I complete the challenge, and if you are artistically inclined, please participate and post to our facebook page here. The more the merrier, so I hope you guys join in the fun! Here are my first 2 days. Day 1- favorite pet. This is my fat and sassy cat, Milo. He is awesome. Day 2 is 80's movie. Classics of Crap Volume 40: The Apple

Hi guys, thanks for checking out another episode of Classics of Crap. Today's movie is the legendary futuristic-disco-acid-trip-rock opera disaster The Apple. Telling the story of two innocent kids, Bibi and Alphie, as they find their way from singing sweet folk music to falling under the spell of the devilish Mr. Boogalow, as he uses fame to corrupt them until they find redemption with a group of hippies and walk(?) into heaven(!). I'm really not sure what the movie is all about, but I'll tell you this, watching it was absolutely hilarious. In the world of the movie, the future is 1994, where everyone wears shiny fabrics and hologram stickers on their foreheads. The biblical allegory comparing Bibi and Alphie to Adam and Eve as they take a bite of the Fame Apple, was childishly simple. I don't know if this is 100% accurate, but supposedly at the premiere of the movie, they gave out LP's of the soundtrack to the moviegoers, who hated the film so much, they took to throwing the records at the screen. The Apple can be seen occasionally at midnight movie screenings around the country and is a cult film classic. Your mileage may vary, depending on how much you like bad musicals.

Classics of Crap Volume 39- Birdemic 2

Hey guys! Instead of my usual Classics of Crap this week, I thought I would do a little something different. This is an illustration commissioned by the producers who saw my earlier Birdemic art here. This new art was made into an exclusive print to promote the, as of this post, unreleased movie. I'm including it as an honorary Classic of Crap, because, come on, how could this movie be anything but an awesome/awful disaster? If you haven't seen the original Birdemic, it's one of the best "So bad it's good" movies ever. Fingers crossed that lighting will strike twice! (Bonus pic of the cast of Birdemic 2 signing copies of my print at a promotional event in Hollywood.)

Classics of Crap Volume 38- Wild Wild West

Hey guys, and thanks for coming back to my blog for another wild wild edition of Classics of Crap. Ever week, (or every other week it seems now) I draw the worst of the worst movie bombs ever. In the summer of '99, movie audiences had come to expect one thing over the Fourth of July weekend: a Will Smith blockbuster movie. Will Smith had smash after smash over this holiday weekend with hits like Men in Black and Independence Day. So, audiences (even me) were excited to see the latest from Will and his Men In Black director, Barry Sonnenfeld. And, oh my god, how disappointed we all were. Wild Wild West, made as a steampunk update of the 60's TV show, was so bad, so disjointed, so awkward, it became synonymous with bloated Hollywood excess. Dumb would be comedy and over the top CGI setpieces, mixed with terribly disturbing imagery, like using a man's lopped off head as a movie projector made for a flick audiences stayed away from in droves. Personally, I think the movie has a goofy charm, and some of the ideas are pretty clever, but it is a chore to sit through. The less said about Kevin Kline dressed as a woman, the better. *shudder* The best thing that came out of the whole fiasco was Kevin Smith's awesome verbal takedown of the Giant Mechanical Spider. Check that out after you watch the movie! See you next time!

New Gallery Work

Classics of Crap Volume 37: From Justin To Kelly

Hey Guys! Welcome back to Classics of Crap, where we take a look at the worst bile Tinseltown retches up. This weeks movie is a little unorthodox, but I haven't done a musical yet on Classics of Crap, so here's (arguably) the worst movie musical ever made. Currently holding the #16 position on the imdb Bottom 100 list, the American Idol movie, From Justin to Kelly. Since I doubt any of you have actually seen this movie, a little backstory. Back when American Idol was just starting out, the first and second prize winner, in addition to all the fortune and glory they would receive from being the top singing stars of that year, would be to star in their very own BIG HOLLYWOOD MOVIE. In this case, the winner Kelly Clarkson, and runner up Justin Guarini, would have to go down with the ship in this contractually obligated maritime disaster. The movie was rushed through production, rushed into theaters, and then in 30(!) days, rushed onto video. The only problem was, no one was rushing to see it. The producers of Idol re-thought their movie idea, and the world was (sadly) never given the follow up, From Clay to Rueben. Too bad, that would have been epic. So, is "FJTK", as I call it, any good? Oh, hell no. But, it is hilarious to see first time actors go limp in front of the camera to the most banal and awkwardly written "romance" I've ever seen on the silver screen.

Life Drawing: Muscle Man

Here are some life drawing sketches I did this weekend at Art Center. 5-7 min, and there may be a 10 minute in there somewhere. It's a strange thing, ever since I started doing regular life drawing from models, I find that when I sketch, my cartoon anatomy has gotten more 'realistic'. I'm finding now have to fight a little harder to be more cartoony and abstract. Any other cartoonists out there have this happen to them?
